Past,
Present, and Future
I
was born and raised in Oxnard, California and grew up in a two bedroom house on
Kamala Street with both of my parents and my three brothers. I am Samoan and
Mexican and I am 18 years old. I went to preschool at Peppermint Junction and
Kamala for elementary school. I finished out my schooling at Haydock
Intermediate and just recently graduated from Oxnard High School. As a kid, I dreamed
about playing professional basketball in the NBA. If I wasn’t in school or
doing chores, I was down the street at Rudolph Beck Park trying to ball with
the big boys. All I could think about was playing for the Los Angeles Lakers
one day.
Now,
I’m currently taking classes and working at Walmart. I’m working towards
joining a fire academy in hopes to become a firefighter one day. On my days off
or “free time” I help my mom babysit or help my cousin with his catering
business. Although I know playing in the NBA isn’t a realistic goal anymore, I still
find time to play with friends or just simply play to work out.
In
the future, I see myself as an active firefighter who’s financially stable and
able to take care of my family. I see myself with at least two kids and be able
to send them to college without a struggle. Hopefully I will also carry season
tickets to for every Lakers season as well as the Oakland Raiders. This is what
I see and expect in my future.
